Meet the Coaches
Breanne Smedley will be returning for her 2nd season with NW Reign this year. Coach Smedley grew up in Vancouver, WA and attended Hockinson High School. After graduation, she played volleyball at Western Washington University while earning her undergraduate degree in Physical Education, Health, and Spanish and a Master's in Special Education. She then went on to coach at the club, middle school, and varsity assistant levels before taking over as the Head Coach at Coupeville High School (North of Seattle, WA) in 2014. Coach Smedley was also an elementary PE teacher in the Oak Harbor School District, served as the assistant club director and coach at Whidbey Fury volleyball club, and developed the youth volleyball program in Coupeville. She recently moved back to Vancouver with her husband to take over as the head volleyball coach at Columbia River High School.
Gina has been coaching volleyball at every level from various club teams to high school varsity, for over 30 years. She played volleyball through community college, then focused on obtaining her Physical Education degree at Washington State University, Pullman, in 1992. She has continued to love, teach, play and coach the sport throughout her lifetime. Gina’s mission is and always has been to create an atmosphere of fun and love for volleyball, to encourage her players to continue being involved with this great sport throughout their own lifetime. She has coached volleyball, basketball, softball, tennis, bowling, gymnastics, and track, and taught physical education and technology classes for Vancouver Pubic Schools for 24years.
