Meet the Coaches
Alyssa Curran is joining NW Reign for her first year. While she may be new to Reign she is not a new face to most of our staff, coaches, and many of our athletes. Alyssa graduated from Ridgefield High School where she was a volleyball force! She was one of the top 50 recruits nationally in her class and chose to play at Brigham Young University. She graduated with a degree in Political Science, and then completely changed course and became a Realtor after graduation. She continues to work as a Realtor in Clark County. After college Alyssa continued to play competitively and participate in leagues and adult tournaments. She has also continued her passion by coaching club and offering private lessons. She has been a positive role model in our community and we are very excited to have her on board. Alyssa and her husband, Mason, have four kids: Chase 13, Callie 11, Kendall 7, and Sloan 3.
Breanne Smedley will be returning for her 3rd season with NW Reign this year. Coach Smedley grew up in Vancouver, WA and attended Hockinson High School. After graduation, she played volleyball at Western Washington University while earning her undergraduate degree in Physical Education, Health, and Spanish and a Master's in Special Education. She then went on to coach at the club, middle school, and varsity assistant levels before taking over as the Head Coach at Coupeville High School (North of Seattle, WA) in 2014. Coach Smedley was also an elementary PE teacher in the Oak Harbor School District, served as the assistant club director and coach at Whidbey Fury volleyball club, and developed the youth volleyball program in Coupeville. She recently moved back to Vancouver with her husband to take over as the head volleyball coach at Columbia River High School. Breanne is passionate about the role that volleyball plays in the development of young women and translates that to her coaching philosophy of allowing players the space to risk, fail, and recover stronger in the process of learning.
