Meet the Coaches
This is Coach Naomi Alandt’s first year with Northwest Reign VBC. She has over 8 years of coaching experience. Previously she has coached at Camas High School for Freshman and then Junior Varsity. While coaching Freshman, the team ended up 1st in league with only 1 loss. At the Junior Varsity level the team had a winning season. In addition, she was the Varsity Assistant coach, and helped lead the team to 5th in State.
She started her coaching career for club volleyball in the Vancouver area. She has been head coach for 14s and 16s, and also assistant and co-coach for 14s, 16s and 18s. Highly influential mentors and coaches from her previous years drove Naomi to start coaching herself. She wouldn’t be where she is today without their influence, and coaching is her way of giving back to the community. Naomi’s coaching philosophy is simple: Work/play hard, enjoy fundamental results.
Naomi started her volleyball career over 15 years ago. She played all 4 years at Camas High, 2 years as Captain and voted MVP while being 1st Team 3A Greater St. Helens League. She then continued on at Clark College in Vancouver where she was Co-Captain, MVP and earned 1st all-league player in the Western Division of Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges. She also played in the NWAACC All-Star game for the West.
Naomi also attended Portland State University where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering. She currently works in Vancouver, Wa for a tier-1 supplier in the trucking/transportation market. When she’s not working she enjoys playing recreational sports (volleyball, kickball and indoor soccer), attending timber matches, snowboarding and checking off the next bucket list item with friends.
Michelle will be joining NW Reign for the 2017/2018 season! Michelle moved to the Vancouver area a little over a year ago and quickly sought out opportunities to coach and play the game she loves. Michelle spent her first club season coaching for a 13u team where her emphasis was building volleyball knowledge and fundamental skills. Her team quickly gained momentum and ended the season with more wins then losses!
Before Michelle transitioned into coaching club volleyball she was a Middle School coach and coached the 7th grade team. While there she was able to apply her volleyball expertise and prepare the kids with strong technique and basic strategies to help them be strong competitors on the court and transition into the 8th grade program. In addition to coaching 14u girls, Michelle also served as an assistant coach for the High School boys varsity team!
Michelle started playing in the juniors system and has experience in all positions. As a result she is a well rounded player with knowledge in each position on the court. As she grew in the sport and started playing more competitively she filled a leadership role on her team as a the setter, and found her final calling as a Libero her senior year. where she earned the MVP award.
Michelle is currently a student at Clark College pursuing her degree in business. We are excited to have her join NW Reign and share her passion for the game with our athletes and families!
