Meet the Coaches
Diana Villalpando Leong
We are happy to announce that Diana will be joining NW Reign this season as our 18-1 head coach. Diana is well known in the volleyball community with over 10 years coaching experience at elite clubs in the CEVA region.
Diana began coaching volleyball her freshman year in college where she assisted the 16-1 team. Her leadership and knowledge of the game was undeniable and she transitioned into a head coach role for the 16-2 the following year. In her third year of coaching of coaching 16’s her club team won every CEVA power league tournament. After three successful seasons coaching 16’s Diana transitioned into the 18’s pod. She has spent the last 6 years working with the 18U athletes at one of the region’s most successful programs constantly finishing in the gold bracket and competing in the platinum division each year. Her success at the club level created an opportunity for her to join the Portland State coaching staff where she is currently an assistant coach. We are excited to have her experience and knowledge join our 18’s program and develop the athletes to the highest level of play and prepare them for the college careers both as athletes, and as young women in their communities.
Diana is a NW native and attended Reynolds High School and was a four-year letter winner in volleyball at RHS. In 2006 she was named first team all-conference setter ... 2005 all-conference honorable mention. Emerald City Tournament Candice Carter Libero award ... 2007 Army Athlete Scholar Award. She also lettered in Track and Field and played club soccer. She competed for Nike NW Juniors and her club team finished 3rd at the National Nike Invitational in Reno, NV.
After her juniors career Diana continued playing at the D1 level for Portland State University. She earned several recognitions during her 4 years including co defensive player of the year her freshman year and is also tied with one athlete in the history of the school for competing in every match of her collegiate career. At Portland State her team won 3 Big Sky conference championships and competed in the NCAA tournament twice.
On top of her love for indoor she also has a love for Beach volleyball. Diana has been coaching the sand program at an elite club in the NW the past 3 years and we are looking forward to her sand partnership and coaching as well. She has 10 years of experience playing sand and still continues to play as an AA ranked player in the NW. In 2014 Diana won her first open tournament to end the summer season in Seattle, Washington at Alki Beach.

In high school she was a 3-sport athlete competing in volleyball, basketball and track and field for Skyview in Vancouver. She continues to play volleyball year-round in both women's and co-ed indoor and outdoor tournaments. She generally plays the defensive specialist position on co-ed teams and is a middle blocker on her women's team.
SueAnn has over 6 years of experience coaching athletes in a variety of sports and has assisted with volleyball camps and clinics with Kingsway High School & NW Reign. This will be Suanne's 4th season with us. She has spent the last two years assistant coaching our 18-2 team and is excited to be joining Diana and assisting 18-1. She is very excited to build on her previous experience and help transition the athletes to their next level of play. SueAnn loves continuing to play volleyball as an adult in leagues and tournaments and uses those experiences to enhance her coaching. She believes that competing in volleyball encourages sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork and she is looking forward to inspiring her team to be as passionate as she is about playing volleyball!
