Meet the Coaches

Andrea Doerfler

Head Coach

Andrea has been coaching club volleyball locally for the past 10 years enjoying success at the 12s, 14s, 15s, 16s and 18s age levels.  Her teams have won friendship, power league and elite tournaments.  Andrea’s NW Reign 16s team finished the 2011-12 Power League 4th in the CEVA region with 1800 total points while competing in the Platinum Division.  In 2012 her 15s team won the Championship of the 16s Club Division at the Emerald City Tournament at the University of Washington.

Coach Doerfler was also the head coach of the Prairie High School volleyball program for 5 years, resigning in 2012 to spend more time with her family.  Her high school teams had a league record of 60-2 with four 1st-place league finishes,  a 3rd place finish at the State Tournament in 2009, a 5th-place State Tournament finish in 2011 and a State Championship in 2012.  In 2008 and 2012 Andrea was named 3-A GSL Coach of the Year.  In 2011 she was named 3-A GSL Co-Coach of the Year.

Andrea began playing volleyball as a 4th grader and was a three sport athlete throughout high school competing in volleyball, basketball and softball.  Andrea received many school and league awards during four years of high school competition.  While playing collegiate volleyball at Linfield College for Head Coach Shane Kimura, Andrea was a 4-year starting middle blocker and outside hitter.  She earned several honors for the Wildcats including MVP and All-Conference awards.  At the conclusion of her collegiate career, Andrea continued to compete in co-ed and women’s doubles grass tournaments as well playing on women’s indoor club teams.

Andrea believes that competing in volleyball provides young athletes opportunities to challenge themselves and develop as strong, confident young women. She utilizes the club experience as a venue for young women to engage in life lessons that extend beyond athletic competition.  Her belief that rigorous training, team concepts, and discipline are necessary on the volleyball court guides her work with athletes.

SueAnn McWatters

Assistant Coach

SueAnn is a volleyball veteran with over 14 years of playing experience behind her.  In high school she was a 3-sport athlete competing in volleyball, basketball and track and field for Skyview in Vancouver.  She continues to play volleyball year-round in both women's and co-ed indoor and outdoor tournaments.  She generally plays the defensive specialist position on co-ed teams and is a middle blocker on her women's team.

SueAnn has over 6 years of experience coaching athletes in a variety of sports and has assisted with volleyball camps and clinics with Kingsway High School & NW Reign.  This will be Suanne's 4th season with us. She has spent the last two years assistant coaching our 18-2 team and is excited to be joining Diana and assisting 18-1. She is very excited to build on her previous experience and help transition the athletes to their next level of play.  SueAnn loves continuing to play volleyball as an adult in leagues and tournaments and uses those experiences to enhance her coaching.  She believes that competing in volleyball encourages sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork and she is looking forward to inspiring her team to be as passionate as she is about playing volleyball!
